Help us show Chillicothe and the world some Crazy Love!

Outreach

To borrow from Mother Theresa, we believe that “small things done with great love will change the world”. Throughout the year, we initiate and participate in regular restoration efforts locally, regionally and globally. Our desire is that through these efforts our community, nation and our world will see the love, hope and grace of Jesus and experience life-change because of it.

Take a quick look at some of our Outreach events:

LOCALLY

Crazy Love Family Day: Our biggest annual outreach event, Crazy Love is a free carnival hosted by Centerpoint every August for the families of Chillicothe. Over one thousand people attended the event in 2011!

Soup Kitchen: Partnering with another local church, the monthly soup kitchen has become a growing outreach that builds relational and emotional bridges with the people of Chillicothe.

Movie Night in the Park: Our first of many Movie Nights took place in August of 2011 and saw over 100 people in attendance. We plan to continue the free Movie Night in the Park during the summer of 2012.

Thanksgiving Dinner: Working through our monthly soup kitchen, we provided a festive, holiday meal with all the fixings and served those in need for Thanksgiving.

Hot Chocolate Giveaway: Lots of people shop at Christmas time and, when they do, we are there to give them a warm cup of hot chocolate or coffee!

Christmas Project: We find opportunities year round to show Crazy Love, but every Christmas we find a special project that challenges our community and takes our generosity to a whole other level! Here’s a recap of the first three years:

Year #1 - We worked with World Vision to buy two farms – each containing twenty eight animals – for a community on the other side of the world.

Year #2 - We partnered with Homes of Hope in Tanzania, Mexico and raised funds to build a house for a wonderful family there. We will travel to Mexico in the summer of 2012 to build that house.

Year #3 – We raised $7,400 to give thirty-five families and one-hundred-seven individuals a special Christmas this year. We were able to give each family a food basket along with a Wal-Mart gift card for each member of the family.

REGIONALLY

McDowell County, West Virginia: Listed as one of the poorest counties in America, we sent a team to McDowell County, West Virginia for a life-changing weekend trip in the summer of 2011. This was the first trip of many as we unofficially adopt this community and continue to show them Crazy Love.

Love INC: From coat drives to school supplies, financial assistance and beyond, Love INC meets the practical needs of people all over the greater region of Southern Ohio and we are proud to partner with them.

Homes of Hope: In the midst of one of the largest homeless crises our region has ever faced, Homes of Hope met the opposition head-on and began providing transitional housing for families who had fallen on hard times. Centerpoint was one of the initial supporting churches, and we continue working with Homes of Hope today.

Hope Clinic of Ross County: Hope Clinic of Ross County, Inc. is a free medical clinic located in Chillicothe. The Clinic is open to walk-in patients every Monday evening. The existence of Hope Clinic is a result of people praying and working together as a body of Christ to reach out to our community and those in need, both physically, spiritually, emotionally, and socially. Our desire is to bring basic, sound, quality medical care to those who would otherwise not have access to it in a loving, compassionate, non-threatening way. Hope Clinic is staffed by licensed volunteers, physicians, nurses, and healthcare workers along with lay-people who feel called by God to help others in need.

GLOBALLY

Homes of Hope: Partnering with the global chapter of Homes of Hope, we organized & raised funds to build a house in Mexico & will travel with a team in 2012 to help make that dream a reality. We will continue to partner with Homes of Hope & work with this community in Mexico.

Operation Christmas Child: Every Christmas, Samaritan’s Purse delivers thousands of shoe boxes around the country so children around the world can open a simple gift of love on Christmas. We are honored to participate in this large scale effort.
